For dinner, we took the Tube to the Kings Cross area of London, which is currently undergoing massive redevelopment to convert former industrial areas into public squares, parks, offices and restaurants.
A vibrant new public square has been constructed along Regent’s Canal, which was formerly used to ship materials to and from the factories that lined the banks.
One highlight of the square was a very cool set of fountains that rotated through different sequences of colours and water heights in a hypnotic pattern.
Our ultimate destination in Kings Cross was Dishoom, one of four locations of a restaurant inspired by old cafes in Bombay. This location was vast, with multiple levels in a former transit shed. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide variety of smaller, sharable plates, all very good, with a lively bustling vibe.
We tried: pau bhaji (mashed veg and buns), chicken berry biryani with cranberries, bhel (puffed rice with many other things) and naan bread. All very delicious and very filling.
